Interviews: The Basic Apparel

Not too flashy but yet still acceptable
Interviews. Everyone goes and deals with business interviews. They are some of the most nerve wrecking yet exciting moments of our lives; it’s a step into our futures. Well, like me and many other young adults in college, we want to set the right impression for an interview. We want to be sure that we say the right things at the right time, show our resumes that we spent countless hours on correcting, be there early, etc. One of the most important things that I want to be sure I have right, is the way I dress for an interview.

A briefcase isn't a must but it won't hurt!
For the last couple of months, I’ve had a couple of interviews for internships and positions. I found that the “dress to impress” motto was quite realistic. After doing some research on my own, I found that for males it was impressive and appropriate to wear a tie to an interview. Ties are a sign of professionalism and respect. Also, depending on the company and the position, a suit might be more suitable for an interview. However, for me and many other young adults, our positions we are applying for are either entry level or internships (suits usually aren’t always necessary).

Ladies, don’t let me forget about you! According to a Monster article, it states that young ladies should be professional in their attire but yet still show some personality (be light on the jewelry!)
Being overdressed can be uncomfortable and not flattering!

To provide an example of how to dress to an interview, I got ready for one myself. As you can see, I “rocked” some slim fight navy dress pants along with a lighter blue collar shirt. I made sure to stay with the season and packed all my winter ties away and got out something a little lighter. I made sure to have freshly polished black dress shoes and brought out my briefcase and watch.
The best part about this look is the price! Including the watch the total price is still under $130!

This looks ia all under $130!

College Vibes

College Vibes - the girls rocking their floral and animal print backpacks

As the winter semester comes to an end, summer is just around the corner. That's the case for most of us, unless you have summer classes. As college students there is a lot of mayhem on what to wear and what not to wear. Trends are trending, new arrivals hit the stores, and we all want the latest look. However, with exams, homework, and part time jobs, for most of us it can be a little hard to keep up. But hey, no need to get anxious or walk out with your PJ's and moccasins because here are some easy reminders on how to keep it comfortable, casual, yet studious.
Nikes, Nikes, Nikes! = Comfort!

Hearing that alarm ringing in the morning for class can really be a buzzkill. It really can be a temptation to stray away from the usual t-shirt and joggers. But can you blame me? Morning classes are truly the worst. Although days like those exist, most days I make an effort to actually dress for success. Taking the time to put in some thought to what you wear can set the right attitude for the day. When you look great, you feel great. The fact that we have to sit in class for a certain amount of hours, you would want to feel comfortable in the clothes you wear.

For me, you can never go wrong with a plain white T. As basic as it sounds, there are actually different ways you can pair a simple piece of clothing into much more. I normally keep it casual with my shorts because the more casual the better. Although, I like to add my own personal pop of originality with the kicks I choose to wear that day. With that being said, guys, you can never go wrong with Nikes. Perfect shoes for just about anything. And let’s not forget the pack that carries all of those ridiculously expensive college books and materials. The backpack is a key accessory for the typical college student. It provides key essentials to maintain all of your needs for class. Something you wear and use every time we hit those halls. I also believe that you can never go wrong with sporting a Jansport backpack. Simplistic, yet extremely trendy for the college life setting.
feeling the animal prints!

For all of you studious ladies out there, I know it can be a major struggle. Take it from a guy who has grown up with five sisters! I’ve seen what it looks like and it isn’t pretty. Girls, I know sometimes it’s difficult because a variety of options is needed in order to perfect the best school outfit. Being a student, there isn’t much leeway to develop more options. However, conversing with students, Lauren and Amanda, they seem to manage just fine. Especially on a budget. They said that the places they shop at for all the best looks are stores such as Forever 21, H&M, and Target. Those three were their top three picks for all the latest and greatest trends.

Remember, with all of these tips and suggestions, what you wear should be up to you. In the long run, originality is key. Keep it simple, comfortable, and casual that is secret for the best college wear on campus.
